Hormone imbalance is a very common condition in our society these days found not only in women, but men as well, and the root of many undesirable and disruptive psychological and physiological symptoms. Hormones have a profound impact on the brain and body and play a major role in our physical and psychological health and well-being. Among other things, they regulate mental processes, mood, metabolism, growth, prenatal development, sexual development and function, metabolism and tissue function.

We have the following testing options – Female Hormone Profile, Adrenal Stress Profile,  Thyroid Hormone Profile, Male Hormone Profile, Sleep Profile, 28 Day Female Cycle Hormone.

Female Hormone Profile

Estrogen hormones are powerful molecules which play a major role in female sexual development, and in the skeletal, cardiovascular and nervous system. An estrogen deficiency results in symptoms including hot flushes, irregular menstruation, mood changes and vaginal dryness. In contrast, high levels of estrogen may be associated with migraines, breast tenderness, heavy menstrual periods, water retention and hormone related cancers such as endometrial, prostate and breast cancer.

Estrogen testing can help determine the specific levels of each estrogen which will help to prevent estrogen deficiency or excess, ensure an optimal balance of the stimulatory versus the protective estrogens, and provide to individualise hormone therapy.

Male Hormone Profile

The aging male experiences a decrease in testosterone at a rate of 10% per decade from the age of 30. The reduction of testosterone and other androgens experienced as a consequence of the aging process has been named andropause or androgen deficiency. Symptoms include: sexual and psychological changes including reduced muscle mass, increased cardiovascular disease, lowered libido, depression, increased Alzheimer’s disease and a general decrease in wellbeing.

28 Day Female Cycle Hormone

A large portion of women experience painful symptoms related to their menstrual cycle. By testing, we can  diagnose and adequately treat the underlying hormonal imbalances associated with these conditions. The salivary test assesses progesterone and estradiol levels throughout a 28 day period, detecting deficiencies or excess of these hormones. It is a powerful profile to investigate the hormonal irregularities that are associated with conditions such as premenstrual syndrome, endometriosis, anovulation, infertility and dysmenorrhea. In addition, this test measures testosterone on day 11 which is useful as abnormal production is associated with hormonal related complaints such as polysistic ovarian syndrome, hirsutism and insulin resistance.
